Chan Patel, CEO - Head ShotChandrakant “Chan” Patel is a successful, self-made entrepreneur who originated in the Dadar neighborhood of Mumbai, India, where he grew up in modest means. Encouraged to pursue a disciplined work ethic by his father, Chan achieved a Bachelor’s degree in college, with top honors, and was subsequently accepted for graduate studies by some of the preeminent universities in the United States, including M.I.T., Columbia University, and Stanford University. Chan opted to attend Stanford and eventually received a Master degree from there as well as from Johns Hopkins University.

Chan Patel went on to accept a software development position at a major airline company in Dallas, Texas, and established a new family. Within a few years, Chan purchased his first hotel, and simultaneously worked three jobs in order to support his investment. Because of his focus and business dedication, the hotel rapidly became a success and he became a full time hotel operator. Chan went on to expand upon this success by acquiring additional hotels.

Determined to facilitate the entrepreneurship of other fellow immigrants, Chan Patel later expanded into banking concerns and founded the State Bank of Texas (“SBT”) in 1987. Along with his family, Chan operates SBT with a strong family ethic and continues to assist immigrants in obtaining loans in order to build upon their dreams, just as he and his own family did.

Chan serves on the Boards of Directors for the Irving Hospital Authority and Baylor Medical Center at Irving (BMCI), and on the Board of Advisors for Surti Leuva Patidar Sammaj (SLPS).
